It's full summer again, which means a lot of sweating, a lot of sun, and especially a lot of physical Grooming. The heat requires different physical and external Grooming than the cold winter. In the summer, you not only let more of your Body smell but also show more of your Body. We wear less covering Apparel and sometimes almost no Apparel.
High time to give some tips so that every man gets through the summer as the best version of himself. The right Grooming during the summer is not only important to look good but also to keep your skin as healthy as possible and to make it as comfortable as possible for yourself.
1. Cleanse the skin daily
Cleansing the skin daily is not a problem in the summer. The skin is greasier in the summer and gets dirty faster. Sweat, bacteria, fine dust, exhaust gases, and remnants of Sunscreen cream all remain on the skin. Not really nice.
Start the day by cleansing your Face. Try to use a face wash that is as free as possible from dyes, artificial fragrances, soap, and alcohol. This prevents your skin from becoming too dry. This also applies to the body wash. We recommend a product that contains only natural ingredients.
2. Don't forget the moisturizing cream
When you wash your skin daily, it is important to use a moisturizing cream. Use a light cream that does not become greasy and absorbs quickly so that your skin does not get a nasty shine and become greasy.
Are you going on vacation and have an air conditioning in your room that dries out your skin? Then apply the moisturizing cream before going to sleep on your Face.
3. Enjoy a good scrub
Scrub once a week to remove dead skin cells. Your skin will look healthy and Sunscreen will be better absorbed so it can protect you better. Your skin contains more dirt than in other periods and can really use this extra Cleansing. It is also important to hydrate the skin with a light moisturizing product.
4. Just shower warm
It's so tempting to take a nice cold shower in this warm weather. Unfortunately, it has more disadvantages than advantages. All the sweat and dirt is better washed off your Body with a warm shower. It will ultimately give you a cleaner feeling. A cold shower is very nice at the moment but will only cause discomfort afterward. The cold shower cools your Body and you will suffer extra from the heat after showering. You have to get used to the heat again and start sweating immediately. So shower with water at the same temperature as usual.
5. Use less Fragrance
Taking good care of your Body is really enough to smell nice in the summer. In the hot sun, the scent molecules of your Fragrance affected, and that influences the smell. It also dries out the skin. Do you still use Fragrance? Then only use a small amount after showering and don't use it to mask sweat odor. You will only end up smelling even worse.
6. Remove body hair
Body hair provides warmth and can give a very unkempt feeling in the summer. Both to feel and to see. Hair Wax that jungle on your back when you have it and trim your chest hair. Shave those armpit hairs and trim or shave your pubic hair. Don't be afraid, you really don't have to become a naked slug in the summer, but just keep it short and Fresh.
7. Use less Pomade, Hair Wax or so
Your scalp will become greasy faster in the summer, and together with all the sweat, your hairstyle will look dirty and greasy faster. Use fewer hair styling products in your Hair. It will feel better on your head and look better too. Our tip is to use a Sea Salt Spray.
8. Trim your Nails
Long Nails means dirt gets trapped faster. Especially in the summer when you're outside more. Also, trim your toenails short so everyone dares to take a look at your Feet. More of your Body is visible in the summer. Including your Feet. Long dirty toenails are very unappealing and detract from your outward Grooming. Cut them straight to prevent ingrown toenails. Still dirty Feet? Take a foot bath more often with warm water and Epsom salt. You will have such clean Feet.
9. Sunscreen is your friend
Every man knows the stories about skin cancer by now. But besides the health risks, you also get a rough, leathery skin from too much sun without protection. Not very charming. Use at least a Sunscreen cream with SPF 30 and protection against UVA/UVB rays. There are also day creams available that protect you from the sun.
10. Don't worry
Have you followed all the tips and are you well-groomed? Then all you have to do is keep your head cool. Do absolutely nothing for a few hours a day and don't plan your summer too full. Take your time with everything so you can appreciate what you do and don't let the summer pass you by stressed and sweating.
