Do you also have curly or wavy hair? Man, we know your struggle. It's always chaos when you get out of bed. Running the comb through it? Forget it. We often envy the men with straight hair who put pomade, wax or clay in their hair and are ready for the day within five minutes. That doesn't work for us.
But when you embrace your curls and waves you will see that it also has a lot of charm. It actually always has volume, texture and always looks exciting. Taking care and styling your hair does take some time. But once you get the hang of it, you'll never want it any other way.
There are some things you can do to get more control over your hair and style it better. We give you some tips that will help you bring out the best in your hair.
Tip 1: Choose the right hairstyle
If you want a hairstyle that is easy to style and easier to manage, it starts with choosing the right hairstyle. If you have really curly hair, choose short sides and on top also short but just a little longer. If you have wavy hair, then you may want to go for something longer on top. Tip 2: Less shampoooooo
We've said this before and we're just going to do it again. Wash your hair less often with shampoo. Of course everyone's hair is different but test it out. For a few weeks, wash your hair only twice a week. Conditioner you may use every day. You will see that your hair will look different.
Tip 3: Use a hair oil for men
A hair oil makes your hair soft, moisturized and reduces damaged hair during blow-drying. You can apply these to wet hair after showering before going to work with the blow dryer.
Don't want to use hair oil or necessarily use a pre styler? Then try a hair mask once a week (depending on how dry your hair is). This will restore your hair completely.
Tip 4: Use the right tools for hair styling
Use a hair dryer
A blow dryer is surely the most essential tool when you want to do something with your hair. Whether you have curly hair or not. We have passed the time when a hair dryer is only for women right? It's a device that dries hair. Not a lipstick. So just make sure you have a hair dryer in your home. Get out of the shower and gently pat your hair dry with a towel and then go blow dry. This largely determines how your hair is going to look.
Ideally, use a hair dryer with a diffuser. This is an attachment for your hair dryer that ensures the airflow is diffused and the curls are preserved. This prevents the hair from frizz and ensures even drying. Use the diffuser on a low setting and hold the hair dryer about 10 cm away from your head. Use your fingers to move your hair as you dry it to enhance the curls.
Use a brush for men
While blow-drying, it is recommended to use a round brush (also called a quiff roller). It is perfect to create volume and control the direction of your hair. It also helps you keep your curly or wavy hair perfectly under control. Never comb your hair when it is already completely dry. This will damage it considerably. Grab the hair with your brush, pull it a little bit tight and blow dry to keep it in check.
Tip 5: Use a clay with high hold
Clay goes perfectly with curly or wavy hair. You can still see the waves and get the most beautiful texture. Curly and wavy hair is harder to style than straight hair. It is a stubborn hair type. So get a clay with high hold, for example, Hanz de Fuko Claymation or Reuzel Clay Matte Pomade. If even that is not enough, you can always add a bit of hairspray after you have shaped it.
