History of Saponificio Varesino

Saponificio Varesino was founded in 1945 by Dante Bardelli. Right after the Second World War, this (then still) small soap maker was established. Bardelli had to find a way to financially support his family after the war. His intuition told him that traditionally crafted Soaps and Shaving Soaps could be a potential income, as there was a great demand for them in Italy. Together with his wife Ines, he started the company Saponificio Varesino. They used soap from Varese, which is located on the shore of Lake Maggiore. All the money Bartelli earned from his small business was reinvested into the company. Bardelli went around the province on his motorcycle, with a sidecar full of soap. Soon, Saponificio Varesino grew beyond the borders of the Italian province. Today, more than 70 years later, soap, Shaving Soap, and other products are still produced in the same authentic way.

The house of Saponificio Varesino works as much as possible with only natural ingredients. The Brand operates according to the Marseille method, which stands not only for quality but also for a fair product. During the (minimum) 10-day production process, only vegetable oils are used. There are no fragrances, preservatives, animal fats, parabens, or other additives involved. This makes Saponificio Varesino suitable for all skin types.

The small-scale, adventurous manner in which Saponificio Varesino was founded quickly made way for a fully-fledged quality company. The key to the success of the Italian house still lies in tradition. The production technique has been modernized but still adheres to the high standard of the Marseille method. This ensures that the Soaps are extra concentrated, making them last longer and produce a very rich lather.
