History of DOVO

DOVO was founded in 1906 in Solingen, Germany. It then consisted of a blacksmith shop, factory and razor sharpening shop. Mr. Dorp and Mr. Voos were the founders of DOVO and at that time employed 13 people. Where many brands were snowed under during the Second World War, DOVO managed to hold its own.

When electric razors came on the market, Fritz Bracht, who had taken over DOVO, had to generate a second source of income. This is also the reason why DOVO started producing and selling hairdressing scissors. In 1996 DOVO took over the Merkur brand and before they knew it, DOVO Merkur was one of the largest products of classic razors worldwide.
