For women, it is natural to take good care of their hair. For men, it's often just a bit of styling and washing. However, the way you handle your hair and what you apply to it can have a significant effect on how your hair looks. There's a good chance you're making one of the following mistakes. It's okay. We've all been guilty of it at some point.
1. Washing too often
We are healthy and well-groomed men, and we all want to be nice and clean. Many men wash their hair every day. This is absolutely not good for your hair. In the long run, it can even cause you to experience more hair loss. Every time you wash your hair, the greasy natural layer of your hair is removed. Your hair then lacks the nutrients that keep your hair healthy, and your hair will fall out faster. You'll have less volume, and your hair will become limp and dull.
Try washing your hair every two or three days and use a small amount of shampoo. Also, use a good conditioner weekly so that your hair gets enough nourishment to recover.
2. Bad shampoo
There's a good chance you're using a shampoo that doesn't make your hair happy. You're forgiven. In drugstores, you find very few good shampoo for men. Many shampoos contain ingredients that are actually very bad for your hair and scalp. Try to avoid the following ingredients when buying a shampoo:
- Mineral oils (parafinum liquidum, mineral oil, or petrolatum)
- SLS/SLES
- Silicones
- Parabens
- Fragrance
Do you want a shampoo that is completely free of all that nonsense? Then try the shampoo from Doers of London. The Doers of London Shampoo is made entirely of natural ingredients and is therefore not harmful.
3. Blow-drying too hot
You want your hair to be dry as quickly as possible early in the morning, so you set it to the flamethrower setting by default. Understandable but not wise. When you blow-dry hot, you not only damage your hair, but your hair also falls out faster. You've probably had some strands of hair in your hands while styling your hair. When you warm your skin, your pores open up. Your hair follicles then release hair faster. Hair Dryer preferably on the coldest setting and keep a sufficient distance. The same applies to showering too hot.
4. Bad hair styling products
No more large yellow pots for half a euro. Don't save too much on hair styling products. These contain many bad ingredients for your hair and scalp. You will also never be able to create a wonderfully beautiful hairstyle with them. At The Alpha Men, we only select products that are good for your hair. We always passionately search for cool brands with top products. Fortunately, you really don't always have to spend a fortune on them.
5. Using buckets of hair products
Less is more, men! If you can't keep your hair in shape, chances are there's too much in it. Your hair becomes too greasy and too heavy. The texture starts to look unkempt. A small tip is to always start with a small fingertip. You can always add a little more, but you can't just remove some when you put too much in your hair. So start with a little and keep adding a bit until you have your hair the way you want it.
6. Styling with wet hair
Most products are not made to be combined with water. This is because almost all products are water-based. So when you put a product in wet hair, it will immediately run out of your hair because it gets too diluted. This does not apply to oil-based products, by the way. But even with these, you won't be able to create hold or volume with wet hair. Towel-dry or dry hair is really a must.
7. Using a towel as a sandpaper
There we are again in the morning. Everything has to be done as quickly as possible. You get out of the shower and go at your hair with that towel as if you're trying to start a fire. Your hair is more fragile when it's wet and gets stressed from this. As a result, you get limp hair that breaks more easily. Try gently squeezing the hair with a towel and then patting it dry.
