The inside of the bowl is coated with an "orange peel" texture, which allows the lather to absorb more air. The head of the handle is also designed to allow more air into the foam, resulting in a very good lather.
The bowl has a removable handle, which makes it easier to store and takes up less space. The handle of the bowl is made of walnut-colored ash wood and the bowl is made of black alder wood.
