Beard dye

If you belong to the men who can grow a good beard, we will gladly congratulate you. Not all men are blessed with a good beard. But it also sometimes happens that that beautiful full beard turns gray or rosy. Looks somewhat special if you have eyebrows and your hairstyle a completely different color. That is why beard paint has been created.

Beard paint ensures that your face hair can have the same color and often gives you years of your life back in terms of looks. And the beautiful? It does not stand out, seems healthy, looks natural and does not cost much. Do we need to say more? But before you really get started, it's good to know if beard paint is really something for you. In our article Using beard paint: Do or Don't? We go deeper into the advantages and disadvantages.

What is beard paint?

The paint is simply for your beard, but you probably already realized that. Just like the woman who goes to the hairdresser as a blonde and returns as a brunette, you can do this for your beard. Beard paint is full of dyes that bind to your beard hairs. Those dyes will therefore mask gray hair, tackle reddish colors and make your beard look fuller and smoother.

You can choose between permanent beard paint (stays in your beard for a very long time, so prepare for outgrowth) and semi-permanent beard paint. This fades slowly and therefore your beard will have to be repainted every +- 8 weeks.

Can everyone use beard paint?

Anyone with a beard can use beard paint. Please note that your beard is longer than 2.5 cm. Long hair provides more grip and binding and therefore the paint will grab better. If your beard hairs are too short, the result will be a lot less because the paint will have difficulty tying to the short hair. So grow a little further than 2.5 cm if you want to see real results!

Why paint your beard?

Of course everyone has their own reasons for that. It is most loved by men with a gray beard, a reddish beard or a less even beard. Masking your gray beard naturally ensures that you look a lot younger. Men with a reddish beard often have no reddish hair and that is why it sometimes doesn't really look like a whole when you look at their hairstyle and eyebrows. And suppose you have a good beard with thinner places here and there? Even then, beard paint is ideal. Your beard becomes (often) a bit darker so that those thin spots hardly stand out. We will list the benefits for you.

  • Gray hairs are masked, so you often seem years younger
  • Your face becomes another whole because your beard has the same color as your hairstyle and eyebrows
  • Unwanted colors are removed from your beard
  • Thin spots/open spots in your beard are filled by the color
  • Beard paint looks of course, so that your environment often does not realize it
  • Beard paint is not expensive and painting takes little time

How should I paint my beard?

We have made a step -by -step plan so that you can paint your beard in the best way. They look like a lot of steps, but believe us, after painting once you get the hang of it. Fortunately it is not quantum physics, but it requires a little experience.

Choose the right color beard paint

We will really insist on this. Do you want all the benefits of painting your beard? Then this is the most important step. Listen well: Black is not always your color! There are so many men who think "I do the darkest", but you will go wrong with this. That artificial black "blackbeard beard" will often be reminiscent of a Pirates of the Carribean theme party. If you have dark hair, choose dark brown. And only if you really or through Hair dye black Have painted hair, choose black.

Always choose a color that is close to your natural color and darken max. 1 to 2 shades darker.

Patch test

If you have your beard paint, do a patch test first. With this you test a possible allergy or response. Apply a drop of beard paint to your knee cavity, elbow cavity or behind your ear and leave it for 48 hours.

This is quite an important step because an allergy can be so intense that you should even go to the GP station. If you get itching or red bumps within those 48 hours, then you will survive. But that does mean that you should not spread it on your beard. Don't you get a response? Congrats, then it's time to paint your beard!

Prepare well

Don't clean your beard! Sounds crazy, but the natural oils in your beard ensure that the paint can adhere better. Then comb your beard so that the paint can grab any hair. What is also smart is to put a little Vaseline on your skin around your beard. If you shoot out with the paint, that's no problem. With that Vaseline, wipe off your skin again.

Most packages deliver a whole kit so you don't have to buy everything separately. Therefore always read what is being delivered with it. You need the following items:

  • Rubber gloves (otherwise your hands will also be painted)
  • Mixing tray (to mix in the beard paint tubes)
  • Color brush (to apply the beard paint)
  • Paper wipes, kitchen roll and tissues (to remove errors immediately)
  • An old towel around you (to prevent stains on your clothes)

Follow the instructions on the package

Before we tell everything here, it is important to know that every beard paint can have different instructions. Therefore always read the packaging and the supplied instructions. It also states how long you have to leave the beard paint in your beard.

Mixing the tubes

In a package you will find (almost always) 2 tubes. One is a basic color and the other is a color developer. You have to mix this 2 together in the mixing box. You do this with your color brush. Does the paint still look very light? No Problemo, it gets darker after a minute. Don't be fooled by the color.

Paint and apply

Well mixed? Then it's time for the real thing: you Paint beard. Take a little paint from the container and get started with the brush. Move the brush back and forth over your beard. Think of it as painting a wall, but then it's your beard. Try to avoid your facial skin as much as possible, otherwise you will get stains and it will not look even. Is your beard completely covered in the end? Then let the paint withdraw (as long as in the instructions) and set your timer.

Color check

Timer went, time for the color check. Pat with your cloth, kitchen roll or tissue some paint from a few beard hairs. Is the color still too light? Then apply a little paint to the place where you just wiped it away and wait a little longer. Make sure you keep an eye on it, otherwise it will soon get too dark.

Is your beard the color you had in your head? Super, then it's time to rinse the beard paint.

Rinse

Keep your beard under lukewarm water and rinse until the water is clear again. Is everything out? Make your beard dry with a towel. Et voila, you have a full, natural, even beard again. Style your beard with a beautiful one beard wax and ensure a good one beard care When you're done.
