Causes of male hair loss
Coves are a phenomenon of a receding hairline. Often, coves are the first signs of hereditary baldness. Yes men, coves and hair loss is often hereditary. That phenomenon is called androgenetic alopecia. By the way, this does not mean that you will go completely bald. In some men, it only stays to coves that don't get worse. It is also possible that the coves come so far back that the entire crown becomes bald. A good indicator is to look at hair loss in men in your family. If many men in your family are going bald, there is a good chance that you too are experiencing hair loss.
Iron deficiency
It is possible to suffer from hair loss due to iron deficiency. This hair loss is only distributed over the whole head and not with, for example, only inlets. For this you could do a blood test. An iron deficiency can be supplemented by eating a lot of animal protein or using dietary supplements.
Stress
Well, that stress is unhealthy every married man knows but so it can even worsen hair loss. Stress causes an increase of adrenaline in the body. Adrenaline accumulates mainly in the scalp because blood circulation is not as strong there. It then builds up in the sebaceous glands and this causes a lot of lactic acid to be produced which in turn is bad for hair growth.
What to do about hair loss
Just because your coves are hereditary does not mean there is nothing you can do about it. There are several ways to deal with coves. And no we are not talking about a wig.
Minoxidil and Finasteride
Two products that are scientifically proven against hair loss are Minoxidil and Finasteride. The only downside is that you have to keep using the products or the hair loss will return. These two products can be used separately but also at the same time. The effect varies by product. With Finasteride, the majority stop hair loss and some people even regain some hair growth. It can be taken by pill once a day.
Minoxidil is applied with a lotion twice a day and can cause some side effects such as dry skin and itching. It is said that using both products at the same time is more effective. This has just never been scientifically substantiated. You can buy them at the pharmacy. Finasteride is available by prescription only.
Patricks' products
In our own range, we now have Patricks' products. A premium brand that has created a formula that stops future hair loss and makes your hair stronger and fuller again. Read the blog about these products now. Reduce hair loss with Patricks' products.
Micro hair pigmentation
Sounds like a terrible surgery but is a non-surgical treatment where pigmentation is inserted into the top layer of skin that camouflages inlets and mimics the effect of hair stubble.
Hair transplant
A permanent solution could be a hair transplant. This is a more invasive and especially pricey solution, though. This can only be done when the nature of your hair loss has been fully investigated. A specialist can then investigate what the possibilities are and which treatment is best for you. For this, see your doctor first.
Hairstyles for men with inlets
Coves do not have to mean the end of the world for men. In fact, there are hairstyles that look better on men with inlets. So besides trying to do something about coves and hair loss, you could also try a different hairstyle and perhaps learn to accept the coves. Here are a few hairstyles that look good on men with coves.
Longer on top
If you wear your hair longer on top, you can wear it slanted backwards or to the side, which actually makes the coves more dynamic as shown above in the photos. This way you can also show off your inlets with pride and have a more masculine look.
Nonchalant
When you wear your hair more casually you can cover your inlets. By using products that give your hair more texture and a natural look, you can style a casual look well. As a result, your hair loss will show much less, if at all. Ask your hairdresser for such a look.
More volume in your hair
Giving your hair more volume will make hair loss or your inlets less noticeable. Especially if you are going for the casual look. there are a number of things to do to provide more volume.
Use the hair dryer
By blow-drying your hair you make your hair dry and warm. This gives more volume. This also makes it easier to style your hair. For the most volume, blow dry your hair against the direction of your hair growth. Then blow dry it back again. Always finish with the coldest setting of the hair dryer. Otherwise, the volume built up will collapse again.
Don't wash your hair every day
Your hair contains natural oils that give your hair more volume and keep it healthy. When you wash your hair every day, these oils are washed out of your hair. Your hair cannot maintain its natural volume. So don't wash your hair every day. By the way, do you use a conditioner? Make sure you don't use a conditioner that contains silicones. This makes your hair look thin, limp and flat.
Use the right products
When you want to give your hair more volume, it is essential to use the right products. In fact, always use a product with a matte finish and high hold. These give your hair a lot of volume. It is best to use a clay in dry hair. Some good products for lots of volume are:

Use a pre-styler
Before styling your hair with a clay, you can treat your hair with a pre-styler. This can be a sea salt spray, for example. Spray it into your hair before you blow-dry it while it is still slightly damp. Then blow-dry your hair and it will create an awful lot of volume. And you guessed it, when you then put the clay in your hair it creates even more thickness and volume. A great combination. Moreover, a pre styler protects your hair from the heat of a hair dryer.
