What is an SPF
SPF stands for "sun protection factor". Although most men know that the higher the factor, the better the protection against the sun, there is still often confusion about how it works.
The number that follows the word SPF tells you how long it takes before UV radiation can make your skin red versus the time without protection. For example, a sun protection factor of 20 means that you need 20 times longer to burn.
As part of a moisturizing SPF cream, it protects you against immediate redness and protects you against the aging effects in the longer term of excessive sun exposure.
UVA & UVB Radiation, the biggest cause of skin aging
Harmful UV radiation (UVA and UVB) of the sun is always present, even when it rains and when it is cloudy. A good skin care routine against aging consists of a well -composed cleaner, toner, exfoliant, serum, eye cream and a moisturizing cream.
These care products are all important for younger and healthy -looking skin, but none of these products replaces the daily need for a good SPF cream. You do not get the desired result when you do not protect your skin every day against harmful sun radiation.
We at The Alpha one cannot say it often enough: use a good SPF cream every day, otherwise there is a good chance that your skin will be damaged by the sun! What if you already have wrinkles and dark spots due to years of unprotected sun exposure? Fortunately it is never too late to protect your skin for this.
Research has shown that men (and women) who started to use a broad spectrum SPF at a later age saw a visible decrease in signs of skin aging. Regardless of your age, the daily use of SPF cream is the basis of a skin care routine against aging.
How do you use an SPF and where do you find it in?
In principle, you use an SPF day cream in the same way as any other cream. A thin layer, well spread over your entire face and possibly your neck, should be enough to offer your skin through the right care and sun protection throughout the day.
You have SPF day creams in various factors. For example, an SPF day cream with factor 15 offers a mild sun protection. Do you opt for factor 30? Then the sun protective factor is already a bit bigger. On a hot summer day, for example, when you go to the beach, you can also opt for an SPF50 cream. In this way you assure yourself of good protection and you can enjoy the sun carefree!
