Bear (D) with us.

Step -by -step plan Paint beard, how do I start?

You're out. It is high time to tackle the design of your beard. Because: the color differs too much from the original shade or it must contrast so stylishly that the hairstyle and design of your beard will significantly reinforce each other.

However, it is much more common to make the color of the beard just 2 shades darker so that it better matches the color of the hairstyle and the eyebrows. It is of course also possible that you just want to experiment with beard paint. It all may all be a bit less paved, more exclusive and more exciting from cut!

Can you just paint all beards? When you take the step to your beard To be painted, make sure that it is longer than 2.5 centimeters. Longer beard hairs have more grip and therefore help to better hold the coloring. Can you paint a shorter goatee? That can be difficult to paint well. The result is less visible.

Choose the right color

As a rule you choose a color that is as close as possible to your natural beard color. If you have dark hair, choose a deep brown beard paint instead of black to prevent an artificial hard look. When you paint the beard (deep) black, it can make your face shocked very pale.

If you have lighter hair, look for a beard paint that best suits your own beard color.
Some beard paint can induce an allergic reaction - just like with hair dye. To test whether the beard paint chosen red spots or (burning) itching causes you can apply a drop of beard paint somewhere on the inside of your arm and leave it for 48 hours.

This is necessary because if the paint in question is a (intense) allergic reaction It may even be that you have to go to the GP station (directly) for this. So first through a drop, you survive that, tests and wait 48 hours for any side effects. No response? Jolly Good! Then you can safely use the beard paint.

Still a response? Annoying! In this case, choose a hypoallergenic beard paint on a natural basis. And then again applies: always a drop somewhere in an inconspicuous place on the arm (or leg) testing before using the paint. Safety First!

What is the best preparation for beard paints?

Have you brought in your ideal beard paint? Top! Then you can now start with the preparation.
We do not recommend washing your beard in advance. If you do not clean your beard and this is a bit greasy, the beard paint will attach better.

The beard oils present naturally also ensure that there are Less damage is caused by the beard hairs and the skin underneath by painting. You can, however, ensure that your beard is well combed or brushed. Then it is made available of fabric and leftover leftovers.

It is also very wise to spread a layer of Vaseline around the beard. This way you protect the skin around it so that any paint does not adhere to this.

Painting your beard step by step

Step 1: You need this (if it is not included with the beard paint)

  • Rubber gloves to protect your hands
  • A color brush to apply the beard paint
  • A mixing tray to put in the beard paint
  • Paper wipes, for example kitchen roll or tissues
  • An old shirt on. We bet you are going to stain?
  • An old towel

Step 2: Follow the instructions on the package

Each brand of beard paint can have different instructions and this effect times. That is why it is important to check whether you are structured and safe so that you achieve the best results.

Step 3: Mixing and painting

There are often 2 tubes in a beard paint packaging. One contains the basic color and the other is a color developer. Have you put a quantity from both tubes in the mixer, mixed together and does it still look some light compared to the example on the package? Don't worry, after a minute the mixture starts to get darker.

Step 4: Apply the beard paint to your beard

Take the brush or supplied applicator at hand and take a small amount of beard paint from the mixing tray. Apply the paint in your beard accurately by moving the brush back and forth. Try to avoid your facial skin as much as possible.

Just think of the Vaseline around the beard! Make sure you take the time. Painting the beard is really a meticulous job. For example, if the paint comes on your skin, this can stain and of course you want to prevent that.
Is your beard completely covered with beard paint? Then it's time to give your beard some rest so that the paint can withdraw.

Step 5: Check the color

Have you followed the instructions on the package and maintained the training time? Then see if you are satisfied. Remove a little paint by dabbing with a sheet of kitchen roll and see what the color of your beard hair looks like.

If it is a little too light, apply a little bit of new paint to the place where you just removed the net and let it move on for a while. Don't do this too long, because before you know it, the result is darker than you would like. If the beard was still too dark it is best to be this directly with beard shampoo Washing so that the hair can just become (slightly) lighter in shade.

Don't forget, there are only Happy Accidents when painting.

Step 6: Rinse

If your color is satisfactory you can rinse the beard paint. Keep your beard under lukewarm water and keep rinsing until no more paint comes out. Is everything out? Then pat your beard dry with a towel.
