Trimming, shaving and maintaining the goatee

Het trimmen, scheren en bijhouden van de Sik

The goatee, the goatee, the beard for the badasses among us. The goatee is a typically masculine look and will make your face look optically longer. This pointed beard was first worn in ancient Greece and was inspired by the god of shepherds named Pan. Time to evoke the Greek god in yourself by leaving the goatee on. We'll tell you how to leave it up, how to trim it and how to keep it up. Let's go.

How to grow a goatee

It all starts with considering the men's goatee. This beard style suits men with small, short or rounder faces. But fortunately, the goatee often looks good on men regardless of your face shape. The goatee will look better if it is a different color than the color of your skin.

Once you have decided that the goatee will be your new look, you need to think about how you want to style your goatee. For example, you can go for the loose beard goatee, but you also have a goatee with a mustache, this is also called the Van Dyck. If you want a goatee with mustache attached to the goatee, this is called a ring beard. Do you want a goatee with beard that runs pointy combined with a mustache with pointed ends? This is called the musketeer mustache. So delve well into different goatee with beard options!

How to trim and shave a goatee

Like any good trim or shave, start with good preparation. Know what you want to do and know what steps to go through. So read up on it and make sure you have the right attributes at home, such as a good trimmer or clipper suitable for your beard. Also get yourself a good razor with a good shaving soap or shaving cream, for example.

Step 1: Start trimming

Choose a trimmer with a fixed comb. Start by trimming your mustache to about a length of 3 to 5 millimeters. This will make your goatee easier to trim later.

Step 2: Shave the outline of your goatee

Now start at your neck by shaving small areas around your goatee. Work well around your chin and jaws until you find the right shape for your goatee. Always shave wider than you think, that way you keep a good overview and don't accidentally shave off too much. Of course, always shave with accompanying products such as transparent shaving gel or normal shaving gel!

Tip from us: smile once in a while. Follow the lines of your mouth and shave your goatee just about the same width. And fair is fair, makes your trim a lot happier too.

Step 3: Choose your desired length

You get the idea, you're almost done. Now take a critical look at your goatee and ask yourself if this is the length you're looking for. Too long? Then trim the length with a length attachment. Too short? Grow that goatee.

Step 4: Connecting the dots

Okay, your goatee stands! But to finish the whole thing off, take an extra good look at yourself in the mirror. See any unwanted hair on your cheeks or neck? Get rid of that mess. Then it is now time to do a double check to see if your goatee is really symmetrical. If it is not, you need to trim away a little bit on one side.

Of course, after trimming and shaving, don't forget to take good care of your face. Apply a nice aftershave b alm or aftershave splash to restore your face.

How to maintain a goatee

You have the perfect goatee for men on your face and all other hair is perfectly trimmed. Great, but unfortunately hairs also grow back quickly. Matter of keeping them up! Make sure no wild hairs grow in all directions, which is especially noticeable in men's goatees.

Remember the length of your goatee and trim it every other day. Remember to always trim in movements that go away from your goatee! Otherwise you'll accidentally shoot out and no one likes that. Keep the rest of your face clean-shaven. You know best how often you should do this, with some people this goes faster than others.

Also remember to take good care of your goatee. Wash it regularly with a beard shampoo and beard conditioner to clean up dirt and prevent under-skin pimples. For extra care, we always recommend using a good beard oil or beard balm.
