This razor strop from Herold of Solingen is made of cowhide leather and synthetic canvas and is used for polishing open razors.
The front side is made of sturdy cowhide leather and the back side of synthetic canvas. The canvas side is used to heat the blade before sharpening.
This razor strop is used in combination with yellow and white strop paste. To maintain the razor strop, the leather part is treated with the yellow strop paste and the canvas back side with the white strop paste. This keeps the razor strop in perfect condition.

Aim :
1. Attach your shaving belt to a hook with one end.
2. Take the other end in your hand and tighten it.
3. Lay the blade completely flat on the canvas side of the shaving belt.
4. Bring the blade towards you, spine of the blade first, then the sharp side of the blade. Then move the knife away from you.
5. Repeat this procedure 15 times, applying as little pressure as possible to the blade.
Polishing:
1. Lay the blade completely flat on the leather side of the shaving belt.
2. Bring the knife towards you, the back of the knife first and then the sharp side of the knife. Then move the knife away from you.
3. Repeat this procedure 20 times, using as little pressure as possible on the blade.
